 |
|
Hi there,
New to this forum, and riding itself.
Did my CBT about 10 days ago, which was horrendous and I have no idea how I passed... Never had any road or bike experience previous and signed up to the 125cc course, when I arrived, 7 other people were doing the course and ALL of them on 50cc pull and goes, was very daunting for me but I got through it.
Anyway, got myself a brand new CBF125 which I am loving it at the moment!!
Literally have no idea about anything mechanical, I so have lots of questions to ask and reading to do... however my first question is how I should 'run in' the engine, I had no idea engines need running in until someone mentioned it at work.
I have done around 180 miles on the bike and so far have not been faster than 55mph, is this a good idea or should I be testing it on an A road at full speed while the engine is new?
Thanks in advance for any replies. |

Oil change now, then ride it any way that you like.
If it dies, better that it die sooner than later.

My 125 had 96 miles (!) on it when I got it, so as good as zilch tbh. I therefore rode it how the handbook told me to - well, near enough. If I'd actually taken it at its word, I'd've never ridden faster than 30mph for the first fourteen millennia. Indeed, I'd probably be still on the return leg of my first wobbly bimble to this very day. Nevertheless, I was cautious, and determined to be kind. And will be again in the extremely unlikely event that I'm ever rich and daft enough to buy new. ____________________ "Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent."
