so I got myself suzuki gs 125 cheap off fleabags for a bit of a project through the winter the guy i got it off said it was sat idling when it cut out snd hasnt started since. I took the carb off and cleaned everything with carb cleaner and still the same. However if I spray carb cleaner into the carb whilst turning it over it will start and idles quite nicely but as soon as I touch the throttle it back fires and cuts out. Any ideas on what could be wrong. I was thinking about buying a new carb but unsure if this would solve it.

so I did the valve clearance this morning there was minimal adjustment and the symptoms are still exactly the same. I spoke to my dad he reckons could be a tooth out on the cam chain what do you guys think before I pull it in bits to have look.

so I've started doing the valve timing this morning set the marks all up as it says in the manual span it round a few times by hand with the rocker cover off to check the chain wouldn't slip all seemed well then but it all back together checked by hand again and the piston is hitting the valve. where did I go wrong? The marks still all line up?

The rocker covert has the tappet arms inside so you can spin it over all you want won't do anything ie open valves till its back on you may have set it 180 out?

By this i mean the cam locating stud is facing up when cam marks appear flat with head...and lobes appear to have no lift if you catch my drift
