How exactly is the engine management light flashing?
1 long and 3 short, 3 long and 1 short, or 4 short flashes?
1+3 would be for the TPS, 3+1 would be for the Cylinder-#2 ignition coil, 4 would be an ECU fault.
TPS normally reads between 2k and 3k ohms. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

Not sure about 4 long - what year is the bike, and do you have an LCD display for the trip meter? ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

It would be best if you could get hold of the service manual and look through the diagnostic codes.
I could only find the list for later models, and 4 long flashes refers to the 'secondary injector' which I don't think you have.
4 short flashes could also be an ECU general fault, but I also thought you had a TPS problem from those readings of 6 ohms. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

Strange one.
Do you get the problem when revving in neutral, or is it also linked to road speed?
Could the HID Ballasts be causing some electro-magnetic or RFI interference?
I would guess the rev-counter gets it's data from the ecu - is the wiring good from end to end?
It does sound like the engine management is going into some kind of 'safe mode' possibly due to a faulty sensor.
I had a TPS problem with a mercedes a while back, which turned out to be a cracked carbon track. It only showed up at higher revs, due to vibration, and with more than 1/3 accelerator travel, due to the location of the crack. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)
