Risers will probably help although I found that changing to a lighter helmet made a bigger difference. Surprising, really, but a few grams makes a big difference (to me anyway).

I had a similar problem when I first started riding, so I undid the handlebars and experimented with different positions until I worked out that I needed to add 30mm risers.

I also swapped the standard screen for a taller one, and that helped to keep the wind off my chest and shoulders.

It would also help me if the foot pegs could be about 2" further forward, but there doesn't seem to be a cheap and easy way to fix this, but I have got used to it now.

The risers and screen did make a big difference though.

agree about rotating the handlebars, of course you have to adjust the controls accordingly as well but maybe you are gripping too hard? it should be possible to ride a bike with not a lot of pressure on the hands, i put knee pads on my bike to help me hold the machine more with my body rather than through my arms.

I agree with Codge. Gripping the handlebars too tight causes your shoulder blades to ache.

Loosen up that grip Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Shoulder blades, isn't that tension? Try doing some sit ups and squats too, strengthen your core, that should help you keep your weight off your shoulders.

If you do decide to fit risers, best to check on your bike-specific forum how easy it is - you'll need enough slack in the various cables otherwise it could be both dangerous and an MOT failure. Even if it's not straightforward, there's usually a workaround. Often is better to go with 20mm risers and no fuss, rather than, say, 30mm blocks and possible pain.

After more than fifteen hours on the bike my arms would feel as though they had crossed over giving me the impression that my left hand was on the throttle and my right on the clutch.
No amount of checking it out , moving hands, touching levers, biting fingers Shocked Shocked etc could rid me of that horrible sensation.

Just had to push on and get the job done. Weird. Shocked

Are you wearing leathers? I found that my leathers were too tight at one time and it was giving me backache. So I shed a couple of stone in weight, had more room to move and the pain went away. The improved fitness likely helped too.
