Fuel Syphon

Hi, guys, I hate sucking fuel down a hose and choking on the fumes, tastes like shit too .

Can you direct me to, or show me something really compact to extract say max 1/2 litre of petrol from the bike tank.

Just needing to top up a petrol stove canister on the go.

You don't need get fuel in your mouth anyway if you can pinch the tube, in fact that's all that device is doing.
Fumes admittedly not pleasant, unless you're addicted

First off - I'd just use the fuel line.
If it's hidden and something you'll use enough to go to the hassle of buying something, I'd consider adding a T junction and stick a tap on that.

Otherwise, not too small, but I've used a washing up liquid bottle with a .5cm hole in the top - stick the hose onto the nozzle.
With the hole uncovered, squeeze the bottle. Cover the hole with your finger and un-squeeze the bottle. As the fuel starts to flow from the suction, take your finger off the hole.

Maybe a min jiggle syphon if you can get one, and like G's washing liquid bottle too.

G's tap on the fuel line has to be the best way to go, just makes the most practical sense, need to nip out to see if I can easily fit one.

G, any particular type or setup you can suggest, ta.

I'd just get a [url="https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/?_nkw=fuel hose t"]T connector[/url] along with a cheap fuel tap.

Add fuel hose either side - I'd probably route it to where the carb overflow goes, which should give enough of a 'tail' to move around when needed.

What is the benefit of this petrol stove? To me it all seems a bit dodgy topping it up and setting it alight.

Would it not save a lot of hassle to just use a gas powered stove?

Also - I'd top up the stove bottle when you're at a petrol station anyway.

That way you've also got a bit of 'emergency fuel' for the bike, or to help out another bike etc, if you haven't used it for cooking yet.

I've got one of these thats worked well for getting fuel out a tank in the past. Only problem might be its not really 'compact' because of tube attached to the pump part which isn't flexible, but it would be very easy to slip under a strap on some luggage or something perhaps.

We use a foot operated Whale bile pump. Very effective!

Just get a piece of fuel hose the same diameter as your fuel line and a straight through connector to extend your fuel line. Route it so that you can pull a bit of a loop out, split it at the connector and drain some fuel off when you need it.

Just stop sucking before it gets to your mouth, use a clear hose and as soon as it goes "over the top", stop sucking and gravity does the rest.

There's another way without sucking that works with a reasonably full tank. Get a long piece of hose. Push as much of the hose as you can down under the fuel starting at one end so it fills up with fuel. Kink the end over to seal it then smoothly lift the hose up and out of the tank so the kinked end is below the fuel level. The hose should be full of fuel providing the kink was airtight and the other end is still in the fuel. You now just unkink the end and it'll start to flow.

Petrol stoves are awesome. I'll take the pepsi challenge to a full rolling boil on either of my petrol stoves against a gas one.
