https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360986777659 (I have no idea what size you need)

For securing brake pad pin..I dont like.. never had that sort of calliper and much prefer the screw in type pin.

For any other uses, split pins are significantly cheaper in qty and they can be snipped down to correct size - But do not use for brake pad pins!

Little R clips are common in RC models, especially cars.

If you can't find any cheap, can have a look around as I've got loads, but not sure if I've got them down here and they'll probably be a bit buried if so.

I was looking for small R clips on Saturday.
I went to a local, independent, motor factor, mainly car stuff, 20p each in the smallest sizes. I just took in the ones I wanted and they matched them!

Padgetts in Batley will be able to supply the correct parts and may even keep them in stock. Alternatively, you could learn to live with your current set-up or simply stick in a short piece of wire or a small nail.

Same question. ^^

I've had a few bikes that had them fitted to the caliper pins as standard. With the ends are bent over so that they can't slip out they're actually more secure than an R clip.

I wouldn't hesitate to use them if that was all I had in the toolbox.

Because split pins are softer and not good for shear forces..........

They aren't exposed to shear forces though. They were standard in Brembo calipers for a long time and in some Honda calipers too.

They're also used to lock castellated nuts in place on spindles.

Nope, I'd be happy to use a split pin to hold a caliper pin in place.

Fair enough if standard, as I said, Ive never used for that purpose.

I consider split pins more secure, but if internal of the pad space? would be bitch to get out.

Wiping down my bike today I noticed one of the R clips is missing from one of the front calipers on my Fazer I went to the local motorcycle spares for a replacement but unfortunately he did not have the correct size I took the smallest he had anyway but it pokes out and is bugging me.

Does anyone know where I can obtain one of the correct size?

Bike; FZS 600.

Wemoto stock them with the pin for £3 each plus postage however I would like to buy a dozen which should last a life time over the counter.

If you need just the one/maybe two then PM me your address and I will send you some in the post Wink Thumbs Up

Pop into a Fiat dealer- they are used on their calipers and are the right size. Probably pennies each.

Or.

what was wrong with ebay? I did not link the correct ones, but there are plenty on there and cheap.

I believe 23mm length is correct one for 5-6mm diameter shaft..

That is truly idiotic. Why would someone deliberately arrange something to hold the pads at an angle to the disc?

I knew someone would say that, and for the most part I would agree.

I think it's a belt and braces approach (it is the brakes after all!) to a problem that doesn't really exist.......except maybe in this scenario.

You have a multi piston opposed piston caliper which you routinely neglect. The brake dust and generic crud build up and cause the pin to stick/seize in the hole at the back of the inboard pad. When the brakes are applied, you will then be attempting to push the pin out through the open ended hole on the outboard side of the caliper, No? Have you tried to stop a piston moving against lever pressure?
