 |
|
My front brake discs on my 03 zx6r are warped and jolt on and off when braking heavily so they need replacing.
Iv never had to buy new discs before so im not sure where to start, i dont mind spending a bit of cash but i cant afford brembos lets put it that way
There are a few sets on eBay called armstrong from japan for around £150 which i can imagine will be terrible?
or i can buy EBC ones at around £250 for a pair which iv also heard are not great...
or i can maybe get some low milage OEM ones from a newer zx6r (thats if they are all the same fitment???)
does anybody know what the best option would be for me?
many thanks!

I've seen people tighten a nut and bolt through a bobbin then get ther end of the bolt in an electric drill and spin them while spraying brake cleaner on.
Armstrong discs are ok.
OEM discs are best. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

If they're big round silver things, they move. Did you give them a good soaking with brake cleaner? They don't like to move if dry. Don't be tempted to use anything but brake cleaner as it's hard to get it out again and, as the wheel spins up, it'll get chucked on the pads ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Ive also tried cleaning mine, than gave up. My bobbins couldnt be turned with a bolt and are pretty stuck, but since they are not warped Ive been quite happy to ignore them
Bobbins have a clip and are removable, which will separate the disc from the inner. I don't know if thats a good idea.. but I probably would. The clips should probably be replaced when disturbed, and in the same alignment. |
