Crying or Very sad Has anyone got any idea as to what has happened here? The bike had fresh oil put in it when it arrived, it was left idling on my drive for 20 minutes then put away. I got it out the next day to go for a ride and then this happened. I cant move the kickstart (even if I pull the clutch in) and the bike is stuck in 3rd gear. The back wheel is locked up as well.

I can't hear the video as working but 4 stroke or 2?

Brand new? If so, dealer phone call yo.

Why idle for 20 minutes.... also, is there still oil in it.

4 stroke, The engine is being collected by the company today. I was following a video online about running in new pitbikes and it said to idle it for 20 mins then give a few revs to set everything in place.

Just out for a quick ride (with a satnav?) around a residential estate on your non road legal, uninsured bike, were we?

Start stripping it down and find out what's seized. I don't know what else you expect to be told. It might (but probably won't) help if you tell us what bike it is, including a model number, and any codes on the engine.

Oh, I've just seen what you did. The idea is to let it idle to warm up, then immediately run it in. Not let it get stone cold again.

Not that you were spanking it, mind, I can't see anything that you did wrong (apart from the Tut Tut legalities).

Well I definitely wouldn't.

I'd start it and ride gently for ~5 minutes to get everything moving covered in oil, engine a bit loose then give it some beans but not for massive prolonged periods, simply on the power, roll off. Change oil in 50 miles, repeat until 150 miles then ride as is. Thumbs Up

Other people may vary, but this is the method I'd always use.

Very bad of me I know, was just taking it for a quick whizz round the block and then waiting to be collected to go to my local MX track. I only had the bike for about 16 hours previous to it blowing up so was very eager to ride it. I've attached a link to the page where I bought the bike.

Oh and the sat nav looking device is my phone in a case, wanted to test a new speedo app and holder I got for my pushbike.

... i`m not convinced that there is just one issue here ...
there is 2 thing i i would try

1.rock the bike back wards ... its still in gear 3rd yes ? ...
against the gear box and dont touch the clutch ...

i have a suspicion that all the slack in the gear box has been "wound to one end" when the bike cut out ...

2. and i would be checkin for electrical problems ie. fuses loose wires shorts etc.

good luck anyway Thumbs Up

The back wheel locked up as soon as the bike cut out and i had to push the bike home with it locked up, tried pulling the bike backwards as well and the front end just comes upm co chance of moving it. The engine has just been picked up to be replaced I just wondering if anyone knew what had happened? Got a feeling that the compnay is going to say it was my fault and try and charge me for a new engine.

The oil that comes in those Chinese bikes is basically chip fat. I'd not run it for longer than 20 mins on it before changing it. Ideally sooner.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

The lock-up appeared to happen as you changed gear. The fact that the whole drive-line is locked up suggests the issue is on the transmission side rather than the engine - my thinking is that even if the engine was a steaming pile of molten metal, you should still be able to pull the clutch, get it in neutral and move the bike.

I suspect either the flywheel/clutch have seriously let go, or you have two gears engaged at the same time, with the resulting lock-up buggering the clutch/flywheel.

Do you think the company will replace the engine and send me out a new one or repair this engine? Hoping to get a new one.

I think they'll say "Owner abuse" and invite you to prove otherwise while they have both your bike/engine and your money.

I'd hope to be pleasantly surprised.

From where did you get it?

Did you change the oil? Did you check that you had oil pressure?

I'monn'a go with Full potato gearbox.

If it were just an engine seize then the wheel would stop, transmission would stop and not go Grzrrrrwhirrrrrrr like gears slipping on each other locking everything clutch or no clutch.

Cheap tat, hope they don't blame you however that video does prove the tranny shat itself whilst not being abused so you defiantly have that in your favor!

But chinese bikes are so good now, someone said on here so it must be true Wink Laughing

£600 new in UK. I presume that means it's cheaper than a bowl of noodles in China. Good luck with getting any recompense on that.

Surely a good hard thump to the engine with a mallet would fix it.

Yes I gave it a full oil change when it arrived, I know it may be Chinese shite and only £600 but I'm only 16 so it's really all I could afford. When I can I'll update but this is (was) my first bike 😬

I wasn't trying to belittle your purchase, it was a petty dig at someone who comes on here saying that Chinese quality is getting better and proceeds to spout how brilliant his Chinese bikes are. Wink

Hopefully they will repair it for you. Thumbs Up
