Honda CBF125 Brake light Always on

Hi BCF,

First post, passed my CBT a couple of weeks ago and went and bought a 125 over the weeked.

Buzzing to be part of the biker group . . . plan is to get both Mod 1 & 2 in the coming months and nice 600

Anyhow, the Honda 125 I bought has a slight issue with it, when you press the rear brake, the brake light constantly stays on.

Apprently the switch is 'sticky' - I'm very much learning the ropes here so can you help in terms of me getting it sorted?

Easy fix?

Which Honda 125?
They make a lot of them from scootehys, to bikes with a drum rear brake, or disc brakes.

Likely its simply the switch needs a dose of wd40 or electrical contact cleaner whilst repeatedly depressing the brake (ignition off)
The switches are usually in the worst place for road grime and the likes, probably worth doing the same to your sidestand switch if your bike has one too.

Look at the back of the brake lever, there's a spring and an adjuster. They often get full of road crud, give it w clean and a bit of lubrication. Also make sure it's attached at the other end

Managed to give it a clean - seems to be ok but worried it might crop up again.

Would it not be better to replace the switch (don't think the part is expensive) but is it easy to replace as it look awkward!

It's a very simple mechanical switch - cleaning it should be sufficient.

It may need adjusted though. There will be a big nut or two on it that controls the height that the switch is held at. If you adjust the nuts to move the switch down a fraction and release a little tension on the spring, the brake light should go off.
