Stick a flat bladed screwdriver down the grip from the inner end and squirt a bit of WD40 down there and work it round - it'll come off easy.

To put back, make sure you've got rid of all the WD40 - you don't want the grip sliding off again - and spray the bar with hair spray. Slide the grip on and the hairspray will evaporate and the grip'll stick.

Yea, If you dont want the old ones. Just slice it straight along and it will come straight off...

Reaplying new ones, Ive found hair spray works brilliant. That or Carburettor cleaner. They both evapurate very quickley...

Hairspray for fitting new ones Thumbs Up

Any grease will be OK as it is neither a high speed or a high load use. I would usually use copper grease on the pivots and Moly grease on the cable nipples. Lithium is usually used for high speed aplications such as bearings but will do a good enough job. I suppose in an ideal world you would use graphite grease for metal on metal contacts as it will still work once the grease has dried out but you never see graphite grease these days.
