Following on from this thread

Would the source of my problem being that the oil is set too much.

I know that it will kill the plug but any other signs?

Cheers Smile

The plug will be black and shiney, and there will be tons of smoke, especially at start up.

Ahhh, there is loads of smoke at start up, and the plug isshiny. Rolling Eyes

Looks like i may have found the problem, but I have never had to change the settings before, but then again it was flooding the engine and it might cancel it out.

Any effects on engine running?

If i reset the cable so that the adjuster isnt being used (like the throttle cable on the carb), will this be correct? How will i know?

There should be adjuster marks on the arm of the oil pump that is moved by the cable (you sometimes need to remove a cover to see this). One should line up with a fixed mark at tickover and different one when the throttle is held wide open. They are all slightly different, you should be able to find the specifics for your bike in a manual.

From my experience with the same bike there will always be loads of smoke at start up. Like enough to turn my 20'x15' garage into a virtual gaschamber.
Funnily enough, my 2t pump was broken when I got the bike. Jammed on full, no matter what the throttle was at. If you need to change the plug every 3 days and it smokes heavily even when hot, then I'd say your pump was jiggered. Or at least set way too high.

You can also get a slight drop off in top end power.

Ideally the bike will smoke when cold, but hardly smoke at all when warm.
