Was in Hein gericke the other day and was enquiring about a new tinted visor when the kind man recommended me a Fog City insert that reacts to the UV light to go darker during the day and lighter at night and are fully road legal. Seems like a good idea and it has the fog city technology to keep the fog out of your visor. It is £30 has anybody here tried one as I am considering getting one? Smile

I had one in my old lid. Very good, changed quickly and prevented fogging. I had it about 18months before i started to notice it wasnt getting as dark as it used to.
Good piece of kit and the nice guys at HG fitted mine for me for free to. Thumbs Up

I THINK I've got one yeah...says hyperoptics on it Thumbs Up

Well worth the money, try as I might, I jsut can't get the thing to steam up. Goes a shade of blue when it's very sunny, but I prefer my dark visor for sunny rides.

Yeah, I have one and it is very good. I mainly bought it to stop the visor misting, but the tint thing works quite well too. Thumbs Up

Another vote for Fog City here. I have a couple of different ones - clear insert on a race visor, Hyper Optik on a clear visor for those colder, damper days Very Happy

They're pretty easy to fit, just maker sure the visor is clean and dry, and try to make sure you put the insert on straight and so that it sits within the aperture space of the helmet. Hyper Optiks come with a plastic guide to stick on the outside of the visor, to aid alignment during fitting.

My first one lasted almost two years before the seal deteriorated Thumbs Up

I had a photo reactive fog city insert until I replaced my helmet. The anti fogging aspect was fantastic especially when filtering around town on damp days. I was less convinced with the photo reactive bit, it worked a little on the low winter sun but not enough.
With my new lid I have a clear fog city insert and will get a separate visor and standard tinted insert.

You've got to remember though, the legal maximum tint isn't that dark.

I have one, they work ok, as others have said, the legal tint is probably not enough in summer, but winter was fine. #

Fog City Visor Inserts certainly get Thumbs Up from me. I get one for every visor I buy.

One point though, be careful if you have a Shoei helmet, some of them don't like the hyperoptics because they are too thick and the helmet then won't close properly. Mine didn't and I've had to put up with it not opening or closing easily. Normal fog city's are fine though.

I would say very good but not perfect.

I fitted it incorrectly so it rubs slightly against the top of my lid. its made it a little harder to shut, but on the flip side, it always stays shut.

Only other problem I find is that is obsures you perifial(sp) vision when doing lifesavers. You lose about an inch from either side.

I agree with Bikay. The anti fogging is great but the photo reactive tint makes no difference, I much prefer my black visor for bright light situations.

The legal maximum tint doesn't count for things inside the visor I believe; this includes such things that stick onto the inside of the visor.

The low winter sun probably isn't bright enough, so doesn't have enough UV in it to darken it enough.

No, I meant not perfect as I can obscure vision to the sides.

I mentioned the incorrect fitting as a warning as once its in, it doesnt come off. Much like the mrs Wink
