After hellkats comments on it showing her silverfish on another thread, I wonder how targetted it is and if it shows different people different things.

I currently have an electric mountain bike. A woman in frumpy underwear, an aircraft carrier, some sort of brass threaded extractor tool, a woman in a sports bra and an odd L-shaped green thing, possibly a drainer or soil riddle.

Some new ladies of questionable morals, along with a man's wristwatch and something that might be a cock-size increaser, or might not. But which is on a price reduction.
Just saying, FF68 ... Wink

As a side issue, I also have a run of ads about doyennes of the British media "flaunting [their] huge size in latest photos"

*Naga Munchetty/Kate Garraway, from memory - but there have been others, I just didn't know who they were. So far, no Lorraine Kelly I notice...

Mostly it’s women in skimpy clothing, also a blowtorch, fishing priests (not shoe horns as I thought) and some futuristic-looking sandals.

I have exactly the same. AO is boring. Where's Temu gone? I want scantily clad Asian girls and sex toys.

Now I have the future sandals, woman with big knockers in pink top, wristwatch, some sort of Jason Myers mask, brown pull on boots, a hipster tweed cap and a chainsaw.

Etsy this ... Sam Fox in a swimsuit, lady farmers calendar, some reasonably tasteful pictures of women in reasonable clothes apart from one skank with the rubber lips, fake hair and trowelled on makeup, a Bowie UK Tour 1972 poster, a brass of (Wallace &) Grommit and the afore mentioned calendar Laughing

This seems poor value when we are well over 50% through the year. Thinking

Backpacks, Sink strainers, paintbrushes and dashcams.

You know the Temu app is essentially spyware, and by agreeing to the terms and conditions of the app on your phone you agree to share your contacts with them, and they may use those contacts from your phone for marketing purposes. It's dodgy as heck, and most companies wouldn't get away with it, but it's one of those 'backed by the Chinese state' type deals, a bit like BYD cars.

This is most likely why I am constantly bombarded with ads by them, both here and on FB. Several of my pondlife chums have admitted to buying stuff from there, which I assume means downloading the app and providing my contact details.

Does it count if you click on the ad to see WTF the pictures are but don't actually download an app? (I never thought to do that with the silverfish... Thinking ) ... I did that the other day when I was confronted with what appeared to be underwear in the style of "The Handmaids Tale" . I've never even read the damn book but I absolutely had to look at the underwear ...

..which obviously didn't have any attractive ladies inside it Laughing

Yes, that is why I didn't buy it. I would have bought it (from another retailer) at 75% discount simply for the laughter value of drawing fake moustaches on but not at only 30% ... in July!!

To be clear:

DO NOT download or install the Temu app on any device. Ideally never buy anything from Temu at all because they have admitted to using sweatshop labour for the products they sell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnu_UcaRZv8

There are other Chinese vendor platforms that are less dodgy if that's your bag, but I think it's all degrees of bad. I assume they all do the sweatshop thing, but as far as I'm aware it's only Temu who do the wide scale spying thing. If we assume the average Chinese selling platform is 30% to 50% on the theoretical and arbitrary scale I've just invented, Temu is approaching 90%.

The line should be "If it's free [or heavily discounted] then you are the product." e.g. Tesco Club Card Prices where you volunteer to give them a good butchers at your shopping list.

If you are going to do research it's standard ethics to offer some reward for the time and/or information and inform the subject how their data is to be stored and used and finally the option of "right to withdraw" with all associated data deleted. Efforts should also be made to anonymise data to prevent targeting of individuals.

The likes of Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury etc. will conform to such ethical standards if only to avoid P.R. fallout. But Temu, AliExpress? With their government?! Rolling Eyes

Mostly random junk lately. I used to see decent gadget deals, but now it’s flooded with knockoff clothes, fake electronics, and weird impulse buys.

I wouldn't actually click on the ads, I'm just entertained by the seeming randomness of the stuff it shows me.

I now have woman with big knockers in pink top, woman in a black latex dress , futuresandals, black superhero body armour, a green sheep, a steampink top hat and a ratchet spanner set.
