sv1000s or gsx R 600
pretty well matched.
Im itching for a faster and newer bike.
Im not selling my gs500e though. ive done a few mods and it runs like a dream in the twisties
or i could go all out
and go with the gsx R1000
for about 2000 more.

Hmm, GS500 to a new GSXR1000.
Buy the 600 if you want something similar, it's plenty fast enough. |

The SV is a nice enough bike but it's been said that it's a bit soft. You need to decide what you want to do with it because you've mentioned two completely different types of bike.
I'm not doubting your skills, but going from a GS to a GSXR1000 is a quick way for it to all end in tears.
Good luck.
P.S. Oh and buy a CBR600RR instead. |

Look at your riding.
1. High or distance miles = SV
2. Short fast wend blasts = Gixer.
Personaly both are do able with the Gixer but if your conscidering either i wouldnt bother with the thou for a while. |

I have said, and always have said, that v-twins sound like tractors once you wind them up (sound nice low down though). I prefer inline 4s TBH. But I wouldn't say no to a Honda SP-X.
Anyway enough about "sound", a 600cc will be plenty fast and better in the twisties than the bigger, heavier, slower turning SV1000.
It depends what you want to do. I would buy the 600 and have impeccable handing and more than enough power for the road. But that's just me. The 600 will certainly need more reving than the V-twin, so that might give you an added sense of speed, which is quite nice IMO.
Test ride and see. But if I had to choose right now, I'd get the GSXR. |
