https://www.motorbikes.be/en/compare/4642/4627/

sv1000s or gsx R 600

pretty well matched.

Im itching for a faster and newer bike.

Im not selling my gs500e though. ive done a few mods and it runs like a dream in the twisties

or i could go all out
and go with the gsx R1000

for about 2000 more.

https://www.motorbikes.be/en/compare/4642/4625/

its alot of money ! decisions decisions. :dunno:

Hmm, GS500 to a new GSXR1000. Rolling Eyes

Buy the 600 if you want something similar, it's plenty fast enough.

what about the sv1000 vs the gsxr600 ?

about the same power. Im really digging the sv. just not sure yet.

but for 2000 more I could have the gsxr1000

i just dont want to get a new bike then want a bigger bike then have to take the trade in loss .

The SV is a nice enough bike but it's been said that it's a bit soft. You need to decide what you want to do with it because you've mentioned two completely different types of bike.

I'm not doubting your skills, but going from a GS to a GSXR1000 is a quick way for it to all end in tears.

Good luck.

P.S. Oh and buy a CBR600RR instead. Wink

oh I know what your saying. Im probly narrowing it down to the sv1000 vs the gsxr600 . lets see

I have a gs500e its great in the twist and super light. I love the sound of a Twin engine. But im wondering if i wouldnt like to have the gsxr600 for trips and freeway riding. the gs is great for doing the speedlimit on the freeway and for speeding up to about 110 with the current gearing I have put on it.

I guess I should just wait and test ride both and think about it some more.

thanks for the input.,

I'd go for the SV...

a more capable all rounder than the GSXR... can do some light touring on the SV, but it's still fast enough to have fun on.

Bingo. Performance-wise there shouldn't be much in it, so I'd buy the one that felt right.

Me being me would go for the daddy o gsxr, I am so fed up of little four strokes that you have to cane the pants out of to get anywhere. 1000cc of lazy power would do me, just ride the throttle with few gear changes is more my style these days, must be getting old.

That's not entirely true, if you respect the machine and can control the right hand what's the problem?

The SV has alot more toque!!! It really depends on what you want it for if its a commuter or a fun bike. If you wan styling or speed. I personally think for the road 1000cc is too much. My zx6r was fantastic round corners. The 750 is better only because the zx6r had a much longer wheel base. I personally think the gsxr600 looks better will handle better and who needs all that power!!!!

well I am American and Im all about power lol. just kidding I actually value handling more.

I have a gs500e right now with a lowered gear ratio giving me quicker accceleration and less top speed, about 110 give or take.

the only time I really care about top speed is on the freeway. out of the relm of leagal, Id like to hit it at 110 and still pull pretty hard.
or maybe just do a couple track days.

I use the GS to commute aswell as have some fun on the back country roads. it has plenty of acceleration . when I have another rider it feels alot slower ofcourse and can be annoying when the rider is squirmy. I hate that on a light bike. so I was looking for a little more stable bike . the gs500 is squirly at high speed.

I love twin motors and how they sound. and I would rather not wind the bike up just to make some power in the lower gears.

on the looks wise I like the dual headlights , I dont like the look of single headlights or when they are incased in a single cover.
the SV wins in my book for looks atleast. but they both look sexy.

Look at your riding.

1. High or distance miles = SV

2. Short fast wend blasts = Gixer.

Personaly both are do able with the Gixer but if your conscidering either i wouldnt bother with the thou for a while. Thumbs Up

The GSXR /will/ be better than your GS as far as handling goes I'm pretty sure.

If you want a bike for thrashing, I'd go for the GSXR. If you want a bike for a bit lazier riding, go with the SV.

The GSXR will do distance fine, but a little more hunched and not quite as 'lazy'. When pushed the GSXR will probably actually be faster, if not just as quick.
But you can go faster without trying on the SV.

Don't forget about the noise.

GSXR - Just another 4.
SV - Thumping and deep. Beautiful. Can't beat the noise of a twin.

I would say go with the GSXR600, the riding position on the SVs is really uncomfatable. A friend of mine has a SV600s and its the most uncofatble bike I've sat on, I find full on sports bikes more comfy.

Apart from a screaming 4 or a nice rolling thumper.
SV - Just another bland twin.

Can we urge you to try a triump Daytona? I guess most mags put it in the same category as the SV because it's unfairly classed as a sports tourer, but it does have character in OUNCES and sounds like Horris the Hog clearing his throat.

I haven't ridden any of them, but based on ergonomics, i prefer the SV because i'm pretty much used to riding upright so a crouch position hasn't grown on me yet. Test Ride them both as many have suggested and only then can you make your final outcome.

Dang! I didn't realise it would be you providing the balance to my biased view point. Well, if you can't decide, beat em....

If you want that twin sound, and something like a out and out sports bike why not the sp-1 https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/GuyMiller/sp-1_sideview21.jpg

I have said, and always have said, that v-twins sound like tractors once you wind them up (sound nice low down though). I prefer inline 4s TBH. But I wouldn't say no to a Honda SP-X. Wink

Anyway enough about "sound", a 600cc will be plenty fast and better in the twisties than the bigger, heavier, slower turning SV1000.

It depends what you want to do. I would buy the 600 and have impeccable handing and more than enough power for the road. But that's just me. The 600 will certainly need more reving than the V-twin, so that might give you an added sense of speed, which is quite nice IMO.

Test ride and see. But if I had to choose right now, I'd get the GSXR.
