Aprilia RS 125 derestricting help

Hi,

I have an Aprilia RS 125 and am desperate to get it derestricted and need some help.

I want to know if it can be done myself, if so what parts do i need and where are the best places to get them. How much it will cost, how easy it is and what differences will it make to my bike.

hi i just brought a RS too, i was already direstricted but you need to buy a powervalue and modify CDI, this website is great got fact figures and tuning help!! except i would get a LJ exhaust not arrow as it sayd but apart from that is amazing, best ive found!

I'm from bristol. So what sort of speeds does your bike do and whats it like on acceleration? Why is that exhaust better then the arrow?

as you can buy them in stainless steel which doesnt rust! arrows are mild steel and do, i havnt been out on the road but acording to the site says 0-60 6.4 secs, i think i will check this as seems quite quick!!and does about 102ish real speed tops i think, maybe a little more but will be checking all this a week today when im 17! im from brighton (ish) when you buy it?you on the road with it?your first bike?

Hi

What needs to be done depends on who restricted it. Proper way of doing it is to leave off the control unit, solonoid , cable and power valve, and just put a blanking piece in place of the power valve. Common bodge way of restricting one is to just disconnect the wires to the solonoid. Difference is the first means buying hundreds of pounds worth of parts to derestrict, the other just means connecting the wires (and probably a fair amount of effort to get the valve out and clean up so that it moves again). Between these extremes you may find only a few bits removed.

The cdi "restriction" does nothing to top speed at all. It is purely there to cause a flat spot between 5000 and 6000rpm (there is a massive amount of ignition retard between those revs). It isn't really a restriction, just a bodge to get the bike through various homologation tests.

im near bristol...nmext to keynsham...i can tell you whether its a need for a whole new power valve or just connect cable if you want to come over...wednesday evenin is goo, but i have exams tomorrow :S

i know the CDI doesnt affect top speed but stil a restriction that is really annoying as is an extreme lack of power!!lol, im going to get mine out soon and sort it i think.
