Hiya Guys,
I've had my bike advertised on ebay now for a few days and some guy has made me a very reasonable offer. However he would like me to meet him half way between my town and his.
In all fairness this seems a reasonable request, since it would be a drag doing 40 mile on a 125, however I find myself not being too keen on traveling twenty mile only for the guy to pull out of the deal or try and haggle me down since I've travelled the full distance (you know, reasoning I'll take a lower amount once its wafted under my nose).
Then there is the business of collect a fat wad of money in the middle of nowhere....I don't even need to go on about how many ways that could go wrong!
Anyway, I'm sure the guy is gen and I'll speak to him over the phone but I was hoping some of you's would have experienced this before and could give me advice on how to proceed!
Cheers
Craig |

i do 25miles on my RS every time i go to college or work and dont find it excessive (not short either) i think for buying a new anything under 100miles is pritty close but then again i dont mind traveling far if its exactly waht i want (i can be picky) i think he might try and haggle and also a much better idea to do it at you house, saves a lot of troubles i think ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

try and get him to buy it from your house if you can things could be much easier, when i sold my rs125 the bloke came from kiddeminster and his son rode it back which took him about 3 hours.
When i bought me zxr, my dad rode it about 70miles home ____________________ Now owner of a 1200 Bandit |

Get a mate to follow in his car, offer a night out/few pints/bit of reefa or what not to generally not take the arsehole but not put you out of pocket that much, especially if the guy doesnt show.
That way you cant be harassed into taking the shiney money as your mate helps keep you objective (same principle when buying bikes... mates go 'look at that rust on the swinger/pipes etc' while you're still drooling over the end can and plastics)
Oh and that way you have a) somewhere safe to keep the documents b) something hard to sign the documents on c) somewhere to keep the money in and d) a lift home
And yeh, 20 miles really is fuck all. My favourite blast route is a tad over 35 miles and i do it in about 30 an hour i suppose (no heckling, im just guessing... if it works out as 200mph average... well i am on a honda )
And before you say im on a 600, i used to do the same route for shits and giggles on my derbi gpr 50 even when it was restricted (45 downhill... 15 uphill... get in) ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Right, I get the impression that the guy wants to collect, so bearing that in mind I would easily meet him half way. lol, I have no qualms taking the bike 20 mile (I've done 100 mile trips on it and do 60 every day on it, round trip to work and back most days).
I was more thinking it would be a drag for the guy, who for all I know has zero bike experience other than a CBT. Maybe I'm just being to nice
If at all possible I'm gonna meet outside a bank, so I can cash the money immediately, thus avoiding counterfeits and prevent myself from wandering about with a shed load of money!
I'm also gonna take more hi res shots of the bike and paper work to email the guy first so he can be certan this is the bike he wants. If he fucks me about I might just drive the f*cking bike up his f*cking c3ke hole
Cheers for the advice guys |

It not your problem how he gets it home, let him worry about that.
If he starts messing you about, jump on your bike and ride off. |

Make it clear to him beforehand that you won't accept any offers below the asking price (unless of course you will) and ask if he still wants to have a look at it. As others have said, try and go with someone else and make sure he doesn't want to meet in a dark wood at midnight or anything like that. |
