Well the other day on my way to college and seeing a biker i was sure was ZZR Girl it got me wondering, how many miles does everyone here ride to work/college? i ride 25 miles each way and think its not too long but still a fair distance.

unfortantly if you only get the bike out on sunny sundays you cant take park in this poll, you should ride you bike in all weather!! Very Happy

ive set up a poll and be great if you could take a minute just to say how long you commute!

also add a post about how far it is, just as i wunder if my commute is long or short compared to everyone else,

My commute is only 5 miles down the A57 from Irlam, Manchester to Woolston, Warrington.

Takes about 10-15 mins dependant on what I am riding.

The A57 is twisty in parts but having ridden it for well over 5 years it has gotten boring!

I used to ride about 12 miles each way to get to work, I think it was the same route that Andy_13uk (just going the opposite way).

Bloody good route only takes ten minutes on the bike or twenty five minutes in the car.

10 miles, twice a day 5 days a week, with a choice of 3 different twisty country lane routes or a piece of the A38. Quite like it actually. Thumbs Up

About 15 miles down the A38 in rush hour. Neutral It takes between 30 and 40 minutes, depending on how busy it is and how much filtering I do. There's more than enough practise at the traffic light GP though. Smile

I commute to and from work and do the school run every weekday.
It is about 12 miles all told. Dual carriageways mostly. I enjoy whizzing about at 90. Saves commuting time that's for sure. About 8 mins and I'm there, two towns away !
I do it in all weathers (have to), and mostly enjoy it.
My kid finds it fun too Thumbs Up

Roughly 20 miles for me through heavy traffic.

Breightmet in Bolton- Stretford Manchester. A6 East Lancs road at 0800 in the morning is not great, nor at 1730. Clogged full of road rage induced Mancs and Scousers trying get to work/home Laughing

Only 2 miles to get to work but to get home i take the long way, takes me 1/2 hour to get home instead of about 3 minutes.

By the way i ride all year round no matter what the weather is like i have done since i started biking (April 2004)

12 miles either way.

More if I do my usual trick and forget something, then have to turn round 5 miles away.

Plus usually go out for lunch somewhere, which adds on a few miles.

I have forgotten the cargo net for my kids helmet loads of times. I have to leave her with the bike while I run back up the road, (road is extra busy, so quicker to run with helmet and heavy jacket on) Shocked (but hot!!) Mr. Green
She looks so cool..poised, legs crossed, leaning on 'her' bike waiting for me to return..

I must get into the habit of placing it under the seat etc.. when I lock the bike up at night. But...I won't because I am lazy..and the beer in the fridge calls moi Very Happy

Hi there. New to the forum.

By the sounds of it, i live in the same sort of area as Andy13_UK and Davo. I travel to college in Eastbourne twice a week on my GPZ500 (not really proper commuting i know). Usually take the direct route in the morning as i have to be there early (about 18 miles). On the way home i'll take the scenic route through some of the nice twisties in the area making about 40 odd miles.

Quite often see an RS125 on my travels. Could well be Andy13.
If you see a nice shiney GPZ out and about on the south coast, give us a nod Thumbs Up

Cheers.

Nah... I think even 12 miles can be DAMNED hard for true all-weather bikers in the torrential rain, heavy traffic, freezing cold, with a wiggling pillion, and cargo to boot. When all you want to do at 8am is be underneath a nice warm duvet Sad

I hate getting out of bed at this time of year. So ruddy difficult Crying or Very sad

Just 3 miles down the A4, Bath road for me. No turning just straight there on one road. Doesn't take long as traffic is usually pretty good.

(This was until my bike got totalled, mind)

Hi

27 miles each way on my normal route, back lanes most of the way. Bit shorter and quicker on the main roads, but too many talivans for that most of the time.

At best 45 minutes, realistically including putting bike gear on about an hour.

All the best

Keith
