hi im fairly new on here and i own an aprilia rs125. and the names john if u hadnt guessed. anyway i was out my bike today, seen as it was a nice day and then i come along a mini metro. thinking i have no problem takin it seen as it said it was a 1.1. well, to my surprise the damn thing kept up.( must have been modified). i was pretty embarressed as he took over me and now i want to know how to derestrict my rs. i was told all i had to do was cut a wire on the cdi but i dont which 1 so any help would be appreciated.

Hi

DO NOT cut a wire to the CDI (it was the early 1990s RG125 that was derestricted that way).

You need the power valve kit. This might be fitted and just disconnected (either the cable or the electrical connection), or might have been removed.

Latest models have pretty poor exhausts as well as standard.

yes eitehr connect your powervalve or get one fitted

i have a race exhaust and i like it. you can get them for £50 off ebay, and a high flow filter from www.cmpracing.co.uk

I wasnt sure about the sound of the race exhaust at first but I really like it now. The bike seems to breathe easier with high flow filter and race exhaust but I doubt it ads much bhp

powervalve should take you from 15bhp to 28bhp

the bike come with a powervalve kit but its not activated. anyone know how to activate these?

i know a bit but not enough

the bit i know, is how to fit the powervalve, but i dont know how to attach it to the servo that operates it

Near where the pipe of your exhaust goes onto the engine, there will be two allen key bolt holding in a blank plate. You need to take that out and put the blade of the power valve in. The pointiest edge of the powervalve blade needs to be nearer the back of the bike.

You push it in, and tighten the bolts. Might be good to put a bit of 2 stroke oil on the blade b4 you put it in.

The control cable that comes off the blade goes somewhere but ive no idea where.

also does you bike have a dip in power between 5-6k rpm? if it does then you can after putting the powervalve in (as will have much more effect than doing CDI) take CDI and cut out bottom and cut a wire, make the dip go away instantly! i did my myself but took a while to do

why worry about overtaking stuff whilst you are still on a baby bike and riding with L plates, I assume you are?? Just wait until you get a bigger beast and know for sure that you can overtake safely.

Right you could go out and spend £1k on your RS125 with racing a CDi, piper cross filter, bigger carb ect but all the mod's just are not worth the money for the small (if i remember correctley) 1bhp that it will give you.

If your wanting to get the extras i'd suggest that you get the powervalve sorted, and save the rest for your full test (if you do not have it already) or a bigger bike.
