It cost me £350 in total to get on the road, forgetting the cost of new bike, gear etc.
I have had my licence taken away, I need to do everything again, I wont be giving up.

Do it man, go back and sort your fucking flaws out.

Good luck Thumbs Up

Don't give up. Maybe take a break for a bit, take a few more lessons.

Stick with it.

I started losing faith when I failed 3 car tests.
Once you've passed you'll wonder what you were bothered about.

What are you failing on? Maybe we can help?

failed on different things each time, this time was not slowing form 60 to 30 over a junction as i didnt see the signs, they wever covered by the bushes at the side fo the road (everyone has some excuse but this is the truth) and the cars infront of me wernt slowing down. also he said i was too swervy at avoiding parked cars, got 2 minors for appropriate use of speed as i was on some NSL dual carriageways uphill and im on a 4 stroke 125 Evil or Very Mad it wont do 60 uphill, i wont do 50 most of the time!!

I think you need some lessons.

have you had any? A decent instructor will take you on some test routes and advise you of things like that speed limit change.

They do state that for you to take your test, it must be capable of at least 100kph, which I think is 60.5mph? or 62.5 something like that.

just downshift a gear and try and get everything the bike has got, that what i did with the CG i used and im sure if they see you trying to get to faster they may not give you a minor for it

dont give up!! Thumbs Up

Cars aren't so bad, much better for winter. I'd do that and get a bike when you can. Thumbs Up

Dan,

Without want to sound funny, maybe you do need a few more lessons.

Anyone can ride a bike / drive a car. But they are also testing you just as much on your awareness and ability to drive on the road and with other drivers.

Dont give up chief, you'll get there. Thumbs Up

Agree with other posts above about lessons.
It's maybe changed now but I signed up with a training company for a 3 day course of lessons and they sorted the test out at the end. If I'd have failed they'd have given me extra lessons and all I'd need to pay for was the test again. Luckily it didn't come to that thanks to some excellent tutors Very Happy

Is there any training places near you doing anything like that?

I know the intensive course wasn't that cheap (well for me at the time) but I can honestly say it's some if the best money I've ever spent in my life Thumbs Up Very Happy Dance!

It's not easy to pass a test with no lessons.

You'll have picked up all kinds of bad habits, and you'll not have learnt the good habits in the first place. CBT taught me very little other than basic bike controls.

Luckily I have an IAM bikers as parents, and they saw me through my test easily.

Spend £100 on lessons and consider it an investment - if you didn't, you'd spend more on tests. No-one find it easy, don't lose heart though mate. Once you've passed the £150 you've lost failing will not bother you at all.

Don't give up i've failed 3 times aswell, its not a cheap way of learning but at least you find out where you are going wrong, its a shame they cant take nerves into account on a test

Keep at it mate Thumbs Up

You cant pass a test unless you know whats in it, some lucky people do pass with out any lessons but not often.

Find a good local instructor who will sort out any problems with your riding and then take you round the test routes at the centre you will use or you can now down load all the test routes for your local centre and practise all you want.

To be fair, if you can't pass after 3 times, like you say perhaps it is time to give up.

It's not the end of the world, cars are safer anyway.

If you have an instructor already, get a new one. If not, get one.

I done about 12 lessons before my test at £30 a pop for 2.5 hours, but its a worthwhile investment to pass first time.

thats where your going wrong then ,theres a lot of bullshit involved with tests and you have to know what they are in order to pass !

If experienced riders /drivers retook there test after several years a high percentage would fail !

Learn the bullshit and pass Thumbs Up

It took me three attempts and more than £500 to get my licence. On both occasions I failed it was either nerves or bad luck. Now I've got it, it's behind me and all the money is immaterial - I've got a bike licence. It might well be expensive, but it is worth it.

Passing the test is about jumping through hoops, the same as passing educational qualifications. You have to show that you can pass the test, not that you are a safe rider.

I'd be one of them, without a doubt (in the car anyway). I admit it Embarassed Too many hoops to jump through these days, and also seems to be too much of an 'Itinerary' for the lessons.

The bike? Well, I might just pass again, since I do try to put into practice what I learned when I passed my test a few months ago Wink

Get some lessons and look at it as training for work, you dont use all that you learn in one go, you store it away and will use it when you you need to,
If you dont know how to ride safely you won't ride safely, your instructor could give you more riding tips than you'd remember, Training is the one thing that is essential to staying alive on two wheels.

All the best with next test. Thumbs Up

The first thing to do is stop taking riding tips from BCF and get a proper instructor.

Thumbs Up Laughing

Seriously though, do what you want, if you want to give up, do it, if you want to carry on, do it. We can't make that decision for you. All we can say is, you're going about the test the hard way, get some lessons.
