Howdy

As some of you folks know I'm bikeless till January thing is Cornwall is pretty mild compared to the rest of the country with only oine snow fall and barely ever any salting of the roads (can be good can be bad) , the trick is I've got to ride me bike down from manchester a 365 mile trip through heavily salted roads , most probably rain snow and ice and motorway spray + salt.

So I've seen this stuff called ACF50 which the US Navy is alledged to use cover up your bike with it (apart from the brakes and chain which I don't have) and hey presto a neat weather proof film over your entire bike so washing after every winter ride is not necessary but once a weekand reapplication.

I'm always a firm believer of tooo good to be true = too good to be true / snake oil ,

so has anybody here tried it does it work? , £20 a can vs WD40 £2 a can

if not what are your solutions ? somebody I know in Plymouth covers her Hornet in WD40 ,

Thanks

USN use it to keep seawater out of their aircraft. Having said that, the USN likes Grummans which just happen to be built like battleships anyway.

ACF50 works great, doesn't wash off easy same as WD40 and the like and does exactly what it says on the tin. I stocked up at the NEC for £7.50 a can, it's usually around £12-13 not £20.

Just spray it on. The WD stands for "Water Displacement" (40 shows it was the 40th attempt) - itr displaces water and prevents corrosion.

Scottoiler FS 365 Protector Spray is an alternative that seems to be widely used - should be available in most bike shops for about 6/7 quid per litre spray bottle.
