The insurance thing sounds like scare tactics to me, they can put an apb out on the bike, but if they did, they'd just be utter idiots, coz you'd get pulled by every bizzie who called your license plate in to dispatch.
They can do you for dangerous driving, or driving without due care and attention anyway if they really want...

They can. But I am pretty sure they have to serve a notice outlining what the behaviour is and outlining what happens if you do it again on you first.
Wasn't G served one at some point? ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Your bike (or car, or quad, whatever) can be seized if it is used in an anti-social manner. As most of us have read in the papers, "Anti-Social Behavior" can have a wide scope. Speeding could be considered anti-social under a number of circumstances (speeding in 30 and 40 zones would definately be, on a motorway perhaps not so). Loud cans on bikes i.e. non road-legal), riding where you shouldnt, racing, popping wheelies etc could be also be considered anti-social.
The average rider who misbehaves occassionally (under controlled conditions of course ) is not likely to suffer their bike being seized. If however you are a habitually incondsiderate rider/driver then you could be dealt with by having the offending machine confiscated.
Oh, and the insurance thing is true. Police can get insurance details about your policy over the radio. Not all companies have signed up to this to date, but the majority have and the rest will shortly.
Ride Safe,

With a mate whose a copper .....
He says that they can do this under the reform act 2000.....same as section 59.
They visit and say they have reason to believe you were driving/riding unsociably and they get you to sign a form.
If you are caught again in the said period they will sieze your vehicle.
He says it is working ......be careful.
Hope this helps. |

I got served an 'ASBO', as can be seen in my avatar.
If they just did him for speeding off, then that doesn't come under the terms of an ASBO, but what I suspect they did him for was the loud noise.
Was this late at night?
Incidentally, when I got done, I believe what I was doing did not come into the terms of the ASBO (yes, police corruption, yet again! ). The ASBO states that what I was doing was either endangering someone or something, or create a noise nuisance.
I was doing a wheelie in an empty part of a car park, with a standard can on my dr600.
The only possible damage I could have done is that if I had managed to crash it (was well controlled, by the way), would be to have possibly further broken the broken farm style gate lying on the floor ahead of me. |
