Hi all
need urgent help for yokogeri (scott) he is stuck in southampton, on his way back from his sheep shagging trip in wales.
he has ridden back from wales fine and gone to see a mate in southampton, he has just left his mates place and the the bike has died at a junction, just spoken to him on the phone, it seems that the bike is just ticking over when he has pressed the starter and doesn't want to catch. tried with choke fully on and off and the bike doesn't want to play ball and start. it sounds like the bike has either a electrical or fuel problem. yes he does have fuel in the bike, but can't figure out what could have caused it so suddenly as the bike was runing fine for the rest of his trip. the only think it maybe due to is the fact its very wet but doult this myself. so we are trying to figure out whats going on and things to try to get him home. battery getting flatter as we try so not a good situation
can you help?
plus does anyone have the breakdown number for motorcycle direct?
Cheers

Hi
Yamaha fuel pumps are normally pulse pumps. They tick loudly. However might be better to just hold it as you should feel it.
Think the bikes should trigger the pump for a short while when you turn the ignition on (about 5 seconds I think, but they only work up to a certain pressure so when the carbs are full they cut off).
Numerous other things it can be, but pump is one thing that can be traced by the side of the road. Had odd problems with the Bimota fuel pump once.
All the best

Ok, I'd check for a spark (does it sound like it's trying to fire, or just turning over)?
Then check for fuel from the pump and go from there. ____________________ aKa: Ducky |

This reminds me of a time i was at the BP once buying some engine oil. and this bloke on an xr650 appears, his bike covered in mud up 2 the fuel tank. i could just about read the bike model. he proceeded to the jet wash, and theres me thinking, sureley not, surely he wouldnt. and he did. went and got his token, then used the foam mop all over the bike, then blasted it with the jet. now i thought here comes trouble this will not start. lol, but it never got that far, he uses the tissues by the pumps to dry his seat off. and then he goes to reach for his keys. oh dear. it seems he had left them in the barrels, and the combination of being scrubbed and blasted, had knocked them into the metal caged resovoir underneath.
i had left before he retrieved them.
I think if anything THAT deserves a slap around the face. ____________________ "Do what you always did, get what you always got" |
