If you ride home in the rain, do you bother putting the waterproof cover on over a soaking wet bike? Part of me thinks whats the point, while the other part feels guilty for not covering it.

I always put the cover on the bike, even if it's soaked, it makes the bike alot harder to see with a dark green cover on, it hides the shape so you can't really tell what it is and before you can do that you need to see it from a distance. Keeps it abit warmer too Cool

Never put the bike under cover after ive ridden in the rain, the condensation can form up the breather pipes and can spell some trouble when trying to start in the next morning. It sucks, but it's the best i can really do.

I've just covered my bike, its wet after going for spin earlier (to test new leathers).

I also feel guilty if not covered from a security point of view, but also feel guilty about leaving water on the bike under the covers?

I try to leave it a bit, to dry off. But the cover always goes on overnight for security (living in Bristol).

i normally cover it, i normally wash it while it hot and then leave in a min and then wheel it down the side and then cover it, most of the water is off as hot and protects it from rusting (its a suzuki so need a lot of pretecting!!)

I have taken to just spraying on FS365 and leaving it out in the open if it is drizzling. I throw a blanket on the seat and tank if it looks like it is going to get sub zero.

I keep a small backpack cover that goes over the tank, instruments and carbs under my seat and put it on whenever i stop for any length of time.

You can get covers that are designed to be used when the bike is wet, they're breatheable and allow the moisture to evaporate.

More expensive than your £20 rubbery blue one though.

I often give it a quick wash after riding in the rain then blast the worst water off with leaf blower then cover with breathable bike cover Thumbs Up

Hi nrml.

I have a cover for my bike, I never use it if the bike's already wet, and very rarely use it anyway, as long as you haven't scratched any paint or metalwork washing it once a week will probably keep rust at bay.

Works for me anyway.

I always cover my bike even if its wet. security and a guilt feeling if its uncovered more chance of it being nicked, but the guilty feeling comes from leaving it out in the cold and wet.

Course not, especially if you like replacing your radio/windows/entire-bike.

i bought one of those oxford stormex covers but used it once and now it sits in my blue wheely bin. its too big for my CRM and is an absolute pain in t'arse to fit (epsecially in the wind/rain) but as soon as i get a sports bike it'll be on every night whether it rains/snows or not.

Maybe it's just the areas where I've lived. First night my bike was here someone set the alarm off trying to remove the cover. Gazdaman's MZ was nicked when he forgot to put the chain on in the evening, think it was PaulTheWitt's bike that got nicked from outside the main police station Neutral Think Chills had a KLR and a CBR600 taken. I've also known others outside the forum.

If I ride home and its been raining I never cover up my bike, whats the point, its all wet and dirty anyway and they do say you should not cover it if it is wet due to the condesation. Always cover it otherwise.

Build a lean to. Everyone has a spare wall at the back of the house somewhere. Thumbs Up Obviously if your bike is parked on the road this isn't an option.

I tend to cover the bike when I get in. That's so its under cover and some git does not nick it from the back of the house.

Cheers
