1 Cylinder SV650

I was on my wayi nto work this morning on the A13 when the bike lost power, I am now running on 1 cylinder, any ideas? is this common on the SV650?

Water around the front spark plug?

If so, yes, quite common.

Probably you have a problem with the spark.
The water may be the cause, but try to control the carburation, or the exact distance of the electrodes.

In all instances where one pot isnt firing but the others are, checking the spark to that pot is the first thing to do. Probably a 90% chance it isnt sparking.

yup, very common - was it raining?

Happened all the time on mine till I asked on here and www.sv650.org. Gave it a good clean round the front plug, squireted a bit of WD40 and fitted a fender extender - problem solved!

As people have said, also check the water drain hole on the front cylinder see if it's blocked with road crud.

i had the same problem with my sv to. used to do it on cold damp mornings to. fender extener is a great idea mate. cheers. jamie
