right then
breaks were squeeking,
fitted new pads,
sprayed with break and chain cleaner
wiped with thinners, , ran emery paper on pads,

copper grease on rear of pads and all bolts
checked bobbins,
checked the bolts that hold the disks to the wheel

the fuckers still squeek,,,,

any ideas?

Take the calipers off the bike and clean them with a toothbrush. Will need the system bleeing completly as you reassemble the bike and that'll help as well.

Are the wheel bearings alright, it is the brakes that are squeaking and not anything else?

break fluid is new, ,recent full service inc break fluid,
bearings are fine,

no sign of any leaking from the calipers
the new pads are carbone lorraine, sports touring ones same as I had before, its only been a recent thing since having new tyres about 700 miles ago, bearing mind the breaks have been on for 360 of that

did you re-fit the anti-squeal shims? those thin bits of shim type metal that appear to be part of the pad and so often get tossed into the bin with the old pads?

Have you changed the pins/clips?

Have you tried sawing a vertical line on your pads with a hack saw?

I have found in the past, that it disappears in a few hours or days. Just ignore it for a while, till it beds in.

doen all of the above,
pads have vertical line,
wiped disks with cleaner, and sprayed bobbins with it,
disks squeek every now and again now, depending on how hard I break,
they shut up for a while then start again.

and a note to toby,,,,

fuck off cos next time I sneak up on you to slap you round the head you WONT hear me coming

First off, can I be the first to say it's 'brakes' Smile.

I would go with ste's suggestion of the tooth brush.
Get the pads out, push the pistons out a bit (make sure they don't pop out Smile ). Then clean the pistons. Ideally I believe you should apply rubber grease to the pistons before you push back in.

Also apply copper grease to the pins which the pads slide on, if you're haven't.

Sounds like you've done all the right things.

To try as a last resort:

Chamfer the leading edge of your brake pad with a file.
Rough up the disk surfaces.
whistle a tune to yourself whilst braking..

I like bendys Idea tbh. Smile

right then, done all of the above, even took it to the bike shop, the disks are not warped, checked em with a clocking tool, they squeek constantly if you hover over the brake and push the bike forward yet they done when pushing it backwards.

the brake disks also get stupidly hot after braking, but then they dont squeek as often.
The pads are sports touring and Ive been told they are a harder compound, and Ive been recomended to buy some organic compound ones. These are supposed to give you a slightly more progressive braking force and shouldnt squeak. £30 for the pair made by EBC. also been looking at ferodo. the reason I bought Carbone Lorraine is because I can get mine at trade.
