Now i was always a big fan of redex when i was younger, and used to treat my knackered old fiestas to it. Very Happy
Question is, can i put it into my bandit ?
Its got carbs as its quite old, and it seems to be burbling ( ! ) a bit when you drop the revs down, at a set of lights for instance. I was just wondering if a shot of redex would clear out the carbs a bit.

Engine is an engine, so won't hurt to try it in the Bandit! Thumbs Up

Sounds like the carbs needs to be balanced, Redex is worth a try tho.

yeah, im thinking it probably needs a bit of a service as it was stood for a long time before i bought it. But i thought i would give it a couple of runs first, just to see if it needed to clear its throat.

take the float bowls off and check em , if theres loads of shit in the bottom i guess a lot would have got into the engine and would have stuck to the valves,
redex is good for removing the varnish that unleaded leaves on things,

My bandit was sat for ages (1999 reg and only done 3k miles Surprised )
What I did was changed spark plugs, new oil, new oil filter, new fuel, drained old fuel from carbs, new air filter, charged battery and also added some fuel additives and that seemed to do the trick then went for a long ride Very Happy .
It now starts first time (even if left for days without any use) Very Happy It also idles fine.
It well worth doing it if its been sat there for a while

Basically cleans out your engine system.

Put it in your fuel and it supposedly increases MPG, cleans your carbs and makes the bike more efficient.

Just pour it in the petrol and you are all set. Usually use 1/8th at a time.

For the intensive carb treatment you spray it into the carbs while the engine is running - have a fire extinguisher to hand. I would just stick to pouring it into the petrol.

It's £10 a litre at Halfrauds. But you can buy smaller bottles.

or take the plugs out and pour it into the cylinder, leave it for a few minutes, pop the plug back in and then start it up.
Best to do this when your parents/neighbours have just hung out a whites wash on the washing line. Very Happy

What are the benefits?

it removes all the shite on the valves, stops sticky valves, if you do the carb injection you use more aswell but that does the same thing, just gradually, and if you mix it in the fuel it will do the needles and carb valves,
it doesnt improve fuel consumption whist your using it as it burns hotter,
you shouldnt really need to use it in new bikes though unless they have done loads of miles, best to check what state your plugs are in before using it as it will burn off anything on them stopping you from finding out why you might need to be using it in the first place
i would check those, check the tank petrol filter, check the float bowls and see if the ht leads are hard before using it or your just throwing money away ,.

When I got the XJR a couple of weeks ago it used to start missing if you ran it over a ton for more than a minute or two, I put half a bottle of Redex in two tankfuls and it now runs sweet as a nut.

Gets my vote Thumbs Up

It's worth getting the carbs balanced too, it makes a huge difference.

Yup, thats the bugger. Use about 1/3 bottle to a tank of gas on a bike. I think it's about $15/bottle here in the US.
It actually does what it says it does. Thumbs Up Just be sure to get the one ya posted, the concentrate version.
