you can find tons of bikes under 1K and lots at just a shade over 1K too ,
note they won't be in great nick though and will be older and higher milage , though good 500 examples can be found for 1.5K.
My bike came with 12 months MOT , but had NO brake pad wear left needed brakes bleeding , and hadn't had an oil change or airfilter change since ever , ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I'm off to look at an '02 plate GPZ500 at the weekend for a very healthy price (WELL under a grand). Needs a couple of things doing to it (basic stuff, chain, fork seals etc) but if it is what he says it is, I'm stealing it. I don't really need another one but at the price this guy is talking about for a 4 year old bike I'd be mad not to have a look.
What I'm saying is, keep your eyes open, occasionaly a bargain does fall in your lap.
Actualy. GPZ500 is generally speaking not a bad one to look at anyway, even for normal prices. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Shop around, there are deals to be had but you need to search everywhere. Could grab a cheap VFR400 for that money, and it would still be clean.

| Keen wrote: | in my opinion, you can get an ok bike for under a grand, the annoying thing is that just a little more cash will buy you something quite alot better (but I suppose thats the case at any price, but its more noticable the lower you go).
I paid about a grand for my last bike (GS500) and it ran alright, was in shit condition and looked a wreck, but it did have a fault or 2 (tank was full of rust so had to make sure I didn't run to empty and the brakes fucked up once, throwing me off). You don't get alot of peace of mind for that price, especially if you're mechanically inept (like me).
For me its the most annoying thing about bikes, the pricing structure of the second market is such that even an old shit heap is 500 quid, whereas I have mates who've bought cars that run fine for 50 quid. Whats that all about? |
cus theres more supply in the car market while bikers are a niche (but growing group) which is a good thing , imagine if bikes were dead common , yer granny would come flying over on her GSX1000 and you mum would do the shopping on her CBR600.
and cars have bodywork to protect the important stuff inside . ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

yeah its true, I realise its a supply issue but still, it pisses me off
I guess it has benefits- bikes obviously depreciate less than cars do. ____________________ "he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man"- Dr. Johnson |

Would you be able to find a smashed up sports 600 for less than a grand?
I mean one with no plastics, lights or headlights left but with a decent frame and motor in it or what sort of price would something like that go for? ____________________ Go back to bed - You have no rights - "Streetfighters ~ Mainstream motorcycling's crackwhore sister." |
