Bandit missing on 2 cylinders

I have recently purchased a R Reg Bandit 600 which has been stood for around 2 years in someones garage.
After a new battery, plugs and oil filter it fires up fine, but it is missing on 2 cylinders. It's fine with the choke on but once switched off it runs like a dog and cuts out, and will not idle for long.
I have heard about fuel going off, so i have put some new fuel in but seems to be still doing the same, although it is mixed with the old, which probably was'nt a good idea.
I am hopefully going to clean the carbs out this weekend, and wondered if anyone has any advice on this, as it will be a first for me. What is the best carb cleaner to use and best way to do it. I don;t really want to remove the carbs if i can help it, but would this be the only way to do it.

If it fires ok with the choke on I'd suspect one of the following.

Air leak on the inlet somewhere, or blocked pilot jets. You will need to take the carbs off.

Personally, I'd go with blocked pilot jets.

Could be that the float needles are sticking, try cleaning the ends of them with some emery cloth when you get the carbs apart.

Thanks for the tips guys.
I pulled the carbs off on Saturday and found the main jet on number 1 was completley blocked, the other 3 about 70% blocked, and 1 pilot jet blocked, i am amazed i even got the thing started before.
Cleaned them all up, and gave it some fresh fuel with redex and it fires first time and runs great, although i think the carbs need balancing now, so a trip to the garage as i have no gauges.

Yup, when a bikes been stood a while, any running problems are almost certainly carbs. Sometimes coils but usually carbs.

Don't get them balanced until you've done a full service, oil, plugs, valve clearances etc. Balancing should be the last step.
