As you realised the whole clutch side needs to come off. I've got away with leaving the oil pump on as the two screws are easily rounded off so I found it easier to leave in place. The screws are the same on the centrifugal filter cover but that's needs to come off to remove the clutch. Use a Phillips screwdriver bit not a pozi drive while pushing to avoid rounding them off |

whole clutch side?I think the term is 'split the crankcases'.
Most cg's have the kickstart return spring pinned on the kickstart shaft and its impossible to replace the spring without splitting the crank cases.
My quick fix,use a bungee to pretension the kickstart,or fit a fancy modern electric start engine, although the electrics will need changing,
bungees,a significan t contribution to modern classic biking.
the springs on cg's seem to knacker very easy when they've been stood for years and then returned to life.NEVER BUY A PATTERN KICKSTART SPRING,since you have to split the crankcases to fit it. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs.
