Posted: 15:16 - 28 Jun 2006 Post subject: Is my CV any good?? |
 |
|
Hey,
Im starting to look for a admin job in a office, you know the sort of job where sort out stuff in a office and keep databases organised etc. Ive done my CV but not sure if its good enough .
I think i need to include more about my IT skills as this will be needed to get employers interested in me i think.
Obviously taken my personal details out but they are included in the real CV (just incase you thought they werent!!)
Any comments (constructive only) welcome  ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

I've always been told not to include your DOB or age on your CV/application, as some employers can discriminate against the young, thus throwing their application into the bin without further consideration. Only when they ask, do you give it to them.
That's cool that you're going to a Bath uni - I've just finished at Bath Spa, having lived in Bath all my life

put all personal info, inc name and address at the very end.
put the important stuff at the top.
Don't want to get sidelined cos they think you're
too old
too young
too far away
from the wrong side of town
let them see WHAT you can do and Who you are, and then (hopefully) they will ignore such details as age and location.

Elaborate more on your skills (definately more on your IT experience too), and chop down the last part (aditional information).
You've got these two mixed up. You want to tell potential empolyers more about what your abilities are, not how much of a swat you were at school.
Loose the boxes.
I always put my age on, and the fact I'm married with kid, I believe it show's commitment.
Another tip. Apply for as many jobs as you can, not just the odd ones you like the look of, even if the job is crap and naff pay, it will give you more options and experience of what to expect in interviews, and more confidence. Its also quite good to turn down jobs too (ie: the naff ones).
Edit: Also, save it as a PDF, looks much better than a word doc. ____________________ ZXR750R (M2) - For the road.

Doesnt make sense and the reader probably is'nt interested in your opinions.
Sorry if thats a bit harsh mate, but I do read through cv's and with the amount you can recieve for one post the slightest things will cost you an interview invatation. ____________________ If you dont like the way that I ride.......Stop trying to keep up!!! |
