What / how many bikes have you killed?

I killed an XJ600, snapped an exhaust stud in the head, swapped the head with a £30 eBay engine, never ran properly again, think I didn't nip it down properly and it just instantly blew the head gasket again.

Sold it on eBay for a £50 loss.

I killed a Bandit 600 S by hitting a VW golf, hard..

I killed a VW golf...

I killed an MZ 250 engine by some poor modifications and ragging it around Silverstone. Seized the big end.

I killed a ZXR750 by ragging it round silverstone, (it dropped a valve half way up the straight).

The last 2 were in the same day, within 30 minutes of each other.

Killed a Fiesta, lack of oil (due to leak) knackered "big end" Bearings.

Killed a Laguna (well, technically Mrs. K did) when the Cambelt failed and trashed the engine.

Almost killed the Divvy, the lower engine gaskets had failed and were seeping oil by the time I traded her in.

Killed a TT600 with some swarf in the engine (which I didn't know about... I bought it as a damaged repairable).

Killed an RGV250 big end on track. Soon (hopefully) to be resurrected.

I mortally wounded my Malaguti Phantom by ignoring it.

General lack of upkeep saw it slowly rusting to hell. Brake pads were of little consequence so I ignored them - metal on metal worked just fine.

Started it with a chain through the back wheel once, which saw said chain fly round and take off a chunk of engine casing and dislodge the back brake. Had it welded.

Scum ripped out the ignition. Got a new one fitted. Scum ripped it out again. Sold it for £300 - a £1500 loss.

However, to my knowledge it isn't actually dead. The woman I sold it to had it repaired and I often saw it pootling past my flat.


My Laguna wasn't well when I sold it, the stuck bonnet making it rather difficult to top up the oil. Something that was necessary with alarming regularity. There there was the well-overdue timing belt, random juddering, bald tyres, shagged clutch...


Touch wood I don't think I've ever been responsible for the death of a vehicle, I tend to ship them off to a new home just before they get to that stage.

Same, I shipped off the XJ before it died a death. And I patched up the bandit, the only thing it really shares with the corpse is the engine and wheels!

Killed a SV650 when it fell off a trailer at speed

Killed a CBF600 when I hit a Mitsubishi Colt...

The XL500 was not in good condition when that got sold on, oil leak that was going to be an engine-out job.

Current SV was mint when I bought it, now has hacksaw marks in top yoke from attempted theft, scuffs from a tarmac surfing incident and chips out of the paintwork

my Kymco was maimed by an angry vauxhall zafira then further injured by me snapping an exhaust stud which i still cant remove.

killed my CRM125 shortly after i got it by not putting antifreeze in it and blowing the lower rad hose wide open at abot 50mph on the way t work. then shortly after its top-end rebuild i blew the base gasket spitting oil & fuel out the side.

killed my YZF750R...dropped a valve and popped the head gasket. trying to resurrect it as we speak.

who knows what te future holds

Only bike I've ever actually blown up was my CD185 (supposedly the worlds toughest engine ). Flat out on dual carriageway (70 mph), gentle tinkling sound (thought it was a loose exhaust collar. Then suddenly began slowing....took next sliproad, looking behind me revealed a huge white plume out of one exhaust. Then 100 yards later I nearly fell off as the crankcase breather had lubricated my rear tyre. Bike cut out as soon as I slowed and was a twat to restart, but got me the 3 miles home. One piston had distegrated so I shoehorned a CD200 engine for the poor things final year of life.

no whole bikes yet, but a hondy rs and cr hybrid engine blew that up well and truely. Cond rod tried to exit through the side of the crank case. Have kept the conrod as a tribute to not using pattern parts again and only originals.

A few pistons in my time. Ooo and i manage to get half of a clutch plat out of the middle of a clutch with the rest intact.

Had a mate who has killed a CG125, Killed his moped previously. Killed a golf GTI when he hit it with his SAXO - suprisingly saxo lived.

binned my two scoters with a little help from stupid drivers, first one got pulled out on- write off, second got overtaken on a right turn after i did my lifesaver( came belting past) smashed up all the right hand side and the lady drove off- 5 points and about 1000 fine she was sorry she didnt stop!!

Out of 11 bikes and 14 cars that I've owned.......

The only one I've had trouble with is one of the Renault 5 turbo's, where the head gasket let go at about 120.

Thankfully that was none of my work and I'd only had the car a couple of days (brought as a project) so £50 later is was all fixed.

I make sure all my cars / bikes are in good nick.

not killed anything yet although i have nasty visions of my brakes failing due to the brake hose's being taken for a 25,557 mile run over 8 or so years and never being replaced.

I killed my ZXR 250 £100 more and ive finally paid my parents back for that !

I also feel like ive half killed my CBR Damn clutch keeps slipping at 9k rpm + since my little off and is in dire need of service!

I completely & utterly killed my GSXR 750 K6 after highsiding in some diesel on a roundabout....

The bike went up in the air, came down on the left handside smashing all bits of plastic, bending the swingarm, massive dents in the frame and all enginge casing fucked. Rear wheel also bent from impact. Bar end stuck in the road and clip ons bent also bending the forks in the process.

Bike flipped over smashing screen, scratching and denting the tank and tail unit etc... mirrors both smashed off.

Bike finally landed on RHS again smashing all fairing etc and engine casing. bike then slid down the road before coming to rest next to me flat out on the road.

Luckily i survived with just a few broken bones but the bike was dead as i've ever seen a dead bike.

Only the front wheel & front brake caliper was damage free

My AP50 scooter, twice. Blew it up so I kicked a hole in the side of it, rebuilt it and crashed it into the back of a car.

Moto roma scooter - Speedo mangaged to touch 50mph and it just turned off and never ran again. It was that bad I dismantled it and threw most of it away.

GS125 (not quite dead yet) - If I don't fix it soon it will fall to bits.

only killed my old honda sfx 50 when piston ring shattered but got new bits and got it re-bored so it lived, 'til i got a new bike and my brother stripped it for parts..

then scum had my brothers TS125 away at just before 9 in the morning!, Until a day later when i caught them on it..

he rides it with care now and locks it up, except the water pump cover still leaks water...
so that might kill it one day if he doesn't fix it or forget's to top up with water everytime he stops! :roll:
