Heading out for an early morning off road ride on the KTM.
Roads clear of snow and the week had been mild.
Approaching T junction at approx 20mph.
Hit pure black ice (couldnt even see it).
Bike slid out into road ... I attempt to scramble to feet .. look back and see car sliding towards me at a jaunty angle.
Can manages to get some grip and shoots up a bank.
I drag bike to safety.
Damage to Bike: None (light scrapes on the plastics)
Damage to Me: Bruised thigh and torn Goretex army overtrousers
Paint diagram of the event to follow. ____________________ There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffa tape.

Heading out to do my mod 2, I was at the training place which is on an industrial state. Within 30 seconds of getting on the bike I lost it on some ice at about 15-20mph.
Damage to (training companies) bike: Oil leaking and petrol leaking. Not sure where from as the bike was taken off me and I was given a new one.
Damage to me: Poorly hand. ____________________ Willson - "If you go out on that CBR600 in the winter, you're going to do more miles on your side than on your wheels."

Also heading out for some muddy fun and heading down a country road. I see my friend ahead struggle and the back of his husky kick out briefly, he waved his arm at me and before I knew what happened I found that patch of black ice and hit the deck for the first time ever.
Damage to the bike - slughtly bent footpeg
Damage to the road - nice deep scratch where the footpeg went!
Damage to me - bruised arse and I hit my head on the road
Two cars had a head on collision not too much further down the road so I should have read the road conditions better. Meh, live and learn. I had a good day out after that! ____________________ Theory test - 19/8/09, CBT - 11/10/09, MOD 1 - 16/8/10, MOD 2 - 27/10/10

Cockages - it had to bloody happen.
Looked out the window this morning saw clear sunny skies decided hell yeah its biking weather. Got outside and thought bloody hell its cold but chuff it the sun and sky were so clear it was awesome.
Ride down my street and get to a junction, I turn right.
The rear wheel obviously didn't like that I turned to the right and decided that at 8mph it didn't want to go forward but preferred to slide sideways instead after I'd hit a patch of invisible ice (black ice seems to suggest you can see the bloody stuff).
I was still saying "ffuuuuu..." as the bike went from under me and I landed up with my leg stuck under the bike "...ck".
Got out from under the bike and was cursing.
I tried picking it up, problem. It weighs quite a bit when empty, I'd filled up the tank to the brim the other day and hadn't ridden it since, strapped a few heavy books and bags to the pillion seat and my leg was bloody killing me as well as the fact that I was standing on the patch of ice my back wheel had hit.
Thankfully a cyclist came along and helped me lift it to the side of the road.
In his words "what the hell happened? you were pulling out one minute and I blinked and you were on the floor!?". Was so quick, didn't stop it hurting though
Damage:
Bent rear brake pedal, brake is locked on (made for a fun time trying to get it back to my house).
Small single crack in upper fairing, few little scrapes on the engine casing (bit of hammerite would take them out) and the one thing that is concerning me is a bolt that fastens parts of the fairing to the frame is now protruding at a very very odd angle. ____________________ 2008 VFR800 VTEC |

Got the bike back on the road lately after 9 months garaged. First bit of clear sky in four days so off I go on a short ride.. After a *80* mile round trip to see a friend it was pissing it down, windy, cold and I was battered.
Thought I'd stop off in the main High Street coming home to grab some cash, decided to park the bike up in the pedestrianised area so through the bollards I go, up to the cash machine and turn it full right-lock so the bike is facing the kerb.. Fail. Slow speed and tiredness I just keel straight over while in full-lock in front of some pedestrian. F*CK as I do the stupidest roley-poley on the high street at 9pm. Picked myself up, reached for the cut-off switch and quickly accepted defeat. First drop with the Thundercat and I had no idea of how to pick up a full faired bike. Only damage was a slightly cracked indicator lense.
To make it even more embarrasing, the whole thing is already on CCTV and just as I take my helmet off two PCSO's happen to be walking by and they looked (unsurprising really) completely baffled. ____________________ DAS Passed 19th April 08. 07' YBR125 > Yamaha FZ6 S2 '08 > 1998 YZF600R ThunderCat |

Megelli 125m . down a 28% hill back brake called me to snake as engine breaking alone was still hitting 30mph the hill had a non forgiving tight turn at the bottom of the hill and the frost has hit cornwall again but luckily eye balled what looked like a soft impact point just before the turn, failed to make the turn but hit the nice impact spot.... Which wasn't to soft. Just scratches and no serious injuries
Had to laugh though.... Happy new year all ____________________ Never Ride Faster Than Your Angel Can Fly |

Raining most of the night, so never thought about it being icy
All the junctions on our estate are slightly raised monoblock and it was on one of these I went off.
<10mph, both wheels at the same time just went and it happened so fast I didn't even have time to think of any sweary words.
Only realised there was a sheet of ice there when I was looking at it from about 3 inches away. Picking the sodding thing up while standing on ice wasn't much fun either.
Fairing cracked, Brake pedal and right foot hangar bent. Got it back to the house and got the toolbox out and bent everything back into place then back out to work on it.
Everybody seems to have been dropping Varadero's on the right side, there's bugger all on ebay ____________________ Kwak Z750R Black Edition

No but I almost had a spill and it scared the shit out of me, long left hand bend which used to have those yellow lines warning you of stuff, road was then covered in that chipping shit last year and the yellow lines were never removed and are still under that gravely shit.
Version for all the moped riders and the kids on here
I have been around that corner umpteen times on the bike and in the car, out on Sunday I went on the RS to see whether my Rosso red powerband was still working as opposed to the Jaune Modena (yellow) that was in there last year, main difference with the RR power band is more power higher up but less torque.
So I was going around this left hand bend doing at least 150mph on the clocks GPS verified, when the red powerband kicked in the front lifted on one of those yellow lines that are now grey, slammed back down, then bounced back up, must have been doing least 180mph by then had to back off even though it had more go in it, just to settle it down, but yeah proper scary...
The real version,
Going around that left hand bend at around 40mph I started to wind the throttle open where I usually do as it straightens out, and the front hit one of those yellow lines and I think a mini pothole which bounced the front wheel up slightly, it came back down and hit every single line, which jarred the handle bars giving me handle bar shake, I backed off and it settled down but christ it scared me, my arse was that tight I don't even think the runniest poo would have been able to escape, no idea what happened, I just think the lines and a pothole I didn't see unsettled the front end, and each bump just wrenched the handle bars a different direction.
No idea how I kept it upright, to be honest from then the ride went from bad to worse I think I rode home at 30mph if that, about 2 miles further on I was going a decent rate of knots when a bus decided I am going to pull out, queue slapping brakes on and realising I am on a 2 stroke I have no engine braking, shit I am going to hit this, queue red mist and we will speak no more of that.
Then after deciding I was just going to have a nice jaunt home, going up a hill, the top of it is blind so you can't see over it until you hit the flat, doing 45mph as I am no longer comfortable, get over the top to be greeted with at least a 9 foot wide pothole which was at least 4 foot fucking deep, there would have been no way to go around it safely even at slow speeds, brace for impact, crush my nuts, pull over, sit down with a dull ache in ma baws, check wheels both spin straight, check brakes, check pressure, lucky escape, go home at 30mph.
Yeah cool story bro, not really a spill either but they scared the shit out of me, the bus driver I could have stopped and beaten the shit out of. |

Number 11 - I think, last guy missed a number, then someone posted a non off...
Anyway!
First of of the year, hopefully last???
Going to visit my mum, I went the long way around...a 16 mile round trip for a 4 mile journey haha. I was heading into New Milton from Burley and at the Bashley Roundabout (if you even know it) there was a huge oil/diesel spill. Spotted it too late to avoid it (poor obs :/ ) so I hit it at a slight angle and the front wheel slipped and over I went at 15 - 20 mph. No damage to me aside from a graze on the back of my leg (no idea how??) and the bike lost 1 rear indicator, and bent the handlebars (the new ones that I put on there in Oct/ Nov last year..)
Indicator now bodged back on with duct tape, new handlebars on way from the Bay of e. My brothers 1tb external HD that I had in my backpack survived too (I was leaving it at my mums for him to collect)
I'd do a paint diagram but it's not even worth it |

Surprised at how little spills there have been in 4 months. Maybe people haven't been putting them on or there really haven't been as many as last year.
Forgot to put it on at the time so here goes:
Number 14
December/January (leaning towards January but can't remember)
Riding in the snow and ice on my 2nd week of riding I have been riding for years but oh well. Coming back from my dads I leave his road. It was by far the worst road I rode on in the whole snow period. Couldn't even walk on it properly.
So pootling along the road at a steady speed and the bike is going everywhere. As I am a safe and courtious rider I decided to pull over for the oncoming car. It is a 2 lane road but cars parked either side. The road slants downwards on the left side if you were to take a cross profile. I pulled into these two spaces. Obviously cars were parked there when it was snowing and have now moved leaving two dry and snow/ice free bits of tarmac. Car goes past and I try to pull away. Going up and across the road at the same time made me slide literally everywhere. I was going diagonally (paint diagrams to follow to make it easier. Decided to get of and push/walk with throttle. Cue me not being able to stand up and drop the bike. Some bloke in a car asked me if I was alright afterwards, nice man.
Damage to bike: Snapped front lever and knackered master cylinder.
Damage to me: Bruised/achey leg where I landed on the peg.
Got up and carried on home. Mum was like your never going out in the snow again! 6 hours later I meet up B&Q where cars are drifting and 3 of us are sliding. A mate managed to hold about a 5 second drift around a long corner on a zip ____________________ Rusty '02 Vito Camper + CBR600F3

Practising for my Module 1 this morning, on an empty Car Park. Doing an emergency stop, just over 30mph, put on the brake, then hit some gravel. The whole bike just slide from underneath me and flew across the floor while I followed behind it on my ass and back.
Damage to Bike : Broken left mirror, broken front left indicator, broken clutch bar, screws holding bike fairing to frame came through the fairing, back end fairing cracked, scrapes and scratches down the left side.
Damage to me : None, my helmet didn't even touch the floor. Which I'm immensely pleased with ____________________ Ted : "Maybe he's agoraphobic."

Riding home from a mate's house through Eastleigh and wasn't expecting there to be road works and completely stationary traffic. So I did all the checks and started filtering in the completely empty oncoming lane...and a van has the same idea. He wanted to turn right 100 yards or so ahead and thought he'd skip a few cars...without looking...so I made a nice big dent in his driver side door. I then proceed to slide onto the pavement on the other side of the road.
Damage to Bike: Mirrors are history, radiator bent to hell but not leaking, gear shifter needed bending back, slightly more broken rear indicator. I think my panniers saved it a bit.
Damage to Me: Bruised left leg, very sore right thumb...general soreness on my left side. Knackered textile trousers and scuffed boots + jacket. ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed
Fixing: Also the BMW as I get less broken bits
