just purchased a kawasaki zzr400 as a project, it seems to be starved of fuel (no fuel being sucked into the carbs)

i was wondering if these bikes use a fuel pump? as there isnt one present.

any help would be appreciated

listen, the fuel isnt being sucked into the carbs, my cbr400rr has a fuel pump and is a 1988, my honda cbr 600 from 1996 had a fuel pump. this kawasaki zzr 400 hasnt got a fuel pump in but it LOOKS like it should have. all im asking is does the 1990 zzr 400 have a fuel pump?.. simple question

gravity does NOT pull fuel into the carbs because the tank tap is not above the carbs its inline. DICKHEAD

Open the fuel cap and set fuel tap on PRI position, if nothing then it could be floating valve or worse.

I used to have quite similar problem on my GPz550, the problem was fuel cap, there's a tank breather and my was full of dirt.

The engine does not suck fuel into the carburetor, carburator has floating valve and float which closes the valve if the carb bowl is full of fuel. The engine sucks fuel from the bowl and mixes it with air Rolling Eyes

BTW if you've got a vacuum fuel valve then the engine does open it by sucking air of it. Wink

Such an angry young person.

Is there not a prime setting on the tap?

The ZZR400 does in fact have (or should have) a fuel pump.
Are you absolutely certain that it is missing?
You should be able to get a replacement for about 25 squids!

if were splitting hairs ( and sausages ) the engine actually just sucks air, this causes a depression in the venturi which causes fuel to be forced out of the carb.

but really, that's neither here nor sausage.

And English is my 3rd language so I made it simple Rolling Eyes

Roughly 4 seconds of googling suggests that not only does the zzr400 have a fuel pump, but also that you are a fucking sausage
