Hello I have an old K9 P reg kh 125 2 stroke.
The problem is when I kicked her over the kick start snapped of the shaft that goes into the engine
A bike shop told me some can be removed and a new one just slotted in but mine happens to be an engine out job to split the case.
Im bumping at the minute and was told to bump it in 2nd which seems to be working ok.
Anyone local to Coventry that knows how to do this job as I dont mind paying and supplying the tea I have an indoor garage that can be used. If not I just have to bump her
The bike shop quoted me £200 lol.
Another problem I had was the carb was blocked up with what looked like fluff when it was blown out with air, reassembled and she now pulls and runs without cutting out
Anyway thanks for reading. ____________________ You get what you give in life. |

I do believe this has the same engine as i fixed. If I'm correct, there is the magneto cover on the left, then the left and right engine case, then the clutch/kickstart cover on the right.
I don't believe it would be that big of job as all you have to do is take the kickstart lever off, take off the clutch/kickstart gear cover (to do this you'll need to disconnect carby cover, carby and rubber tube from airbox), replace the shaft or whatever needs raplacing, put back together. Oh and drop the oil before doing it. You can take the clutch/kickstart cover off without having to take the cylinder/head off.
200 pounds seems a bit deer to be honest.
Good luck |

The old KH was rather nippy for it's day, 15hp standard I think. I had a nice metallic orange one which I swapped for a MBX50 and £200 for a bike for my stepson. The poor lad had it nicked and they sprayed it matt black over the perfect original paint ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I worked at a Kawasaki Garage when the blue and orange ones were in production and, even though as you say they're a good bike, we hardly sold any I suppose most people went straight onto 250s at the time.
I've got a similar vintage KE125 in the lock-up awaiting restoration. ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Only needed to look at the first pic - IMO, you deffo need to get behind that cover and stick a new shaft in. If Tristan can sort you out, I can post you the shaft I have when I get home. It'll cost you a couple of beer tokens though
If/when you get the new shaft in, try to be a bit more gentle when kicking over. There's a reason they break and I suspect it might be that something fouls the kicker when it's fully down. ____________________ Space Is Deep |
