The Yanks call the 650cc twin bike a "Ninja 650". Over here, it's an ER6-f.
Yes, you can restrict it for a 35kW A2 license (the Ninja ZX-6R 636 is not suitable). You can (just) get them for £2K now. There are plenty around. Watch out for blowing exhausts and fractured engine mounts.
You'll need to budget:
~£120 for a CBT
£121.50 for tests (theory, mod 1, mod 2) plus possible resits.
£300 - £600 for training, entirely depending on the training school and how quickly you pick it up.
Helmet, gloves, jacket, trousers (jeans are the chocolate teapot of protection), sturdy boots = £150+ if you buy used from eBay / Gumtree. Buy the helmet new! ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

But it is a Ninja
If you find one for cheaps, it's probably dodgy or damaged. I think the cheapest one I saw (in a dealership) was just under £3000 and it had been dropped. ____________________ This post is probably not serious and shouldn't be taken literally.

Neither of those bikes are suitable for the A2 license.
There are relatively few fully faired bikes that are.

Including tyres, chains, sprockets, brakes, oil and filters?
Biking is really a heart rather than a head (or wallet) thing, particularly beyond 125. That said, I would encourage you to go for it. ER6-f will be fine, but do check for those cracks.
Thing is, you'll be in a far better position to decide once you've passed your tests and know what you like and don't like about the training bike. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Depends on your mileage. Have a look at parts prices.
New budget brake pads all round, oil, filters, budget chain and sprocket and two budget tyres will run you £285 in parts, minimum, before you lift a spanner. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I've only just seen this. Regarding the restriction kit, and I have one here. It is indeed a small torx screw as a throttle stop and a plug that shorts something in the diag port, which apparently limits torque.
It is so easy, I rode up to the test centre restricted, undid one screw on the panel, removed torx screw (magnetised screwdriver is essential) and then removed diag connector. Pushed bike in to the test centre, passed test and then rode off. I was going from restricted to full A.
It has to be the easiest restriction kit to fit/remove. ____________________ Currently: Yamaha DT 125 LC2,Repsol Fireblade, and Bumblebee MSX 125 |
