Nothing in the description of the problem gives a reason for anything going wrong. Starting and idling is pointless, but won't cause any significant problems. Jump starting is fine, despite tales of woe from 16 year olds thinking that must be the reason their ped is fucked. Charging a new battery overnight is the correct thing to do, and fitting it the wrong way round is difficult on most bikes - the leads won't reach the terminals.
However, leave a bike for a month or 12, fit a new battery and try starting, and sometimes a fuse will blow. I've had it happen to me. |
I checked all the fuses in the fuse box, and they are all fine, I have not checked the one you mentioned as I didn't see it, I will see if that's the problem. I really hope so, otherwise to the garage it goes. |

It's the main fuse. Left hand side with the relay. Mine died on a ride, all fine then just popped. Take off the seat, the left side panel black thing and it's between the two rails in the frame. It's not with the fuses in the fuse box.
EDIT: If you don't know your left from your right (I didn't when I started was used to offside nearside), it's the opposite side to the fuse box. ____________________ Currently: Yamaha DT 125 LC2,Repsol Fireblade, and Bumblebee MSX 125

Sure. Keep the tank full, keep the battery charged, put it on the centre stand, on a block of wood if you like to get the pressure off the tyres. It's not going to seize solid over a few months.
If it's not the main fuse, do yourself a favour and buy a cheap multimeter. It's far, far cheaper and quicker than guessing. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Sure, an Enfield may not have a temperature readout or a gear indicator or service light or a fuel gauge or a trip meter, but by God it's got an ammeter that shows how long it takes to recover the energy used in giving it an electric kick.
One day everyone will catch on. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
