yea i like it when you filter and other bikers follow as you relise that they can, sort of, if that makes sence.
the other day i was following a liter bike looked like a R1 but was hard to tell form behind and was quite fun trying to keep up with him, i also find following people when filtering you can learn a few techniques. ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

You need to be carefull filtering up towards a crash though. I came across an accident on the M73 one time where a Fiesta had clipped a car, bounced off the central barrier, hit another car, hit the barrier again then rolled to a halt.
The accident had only just happened and there were big lumps of car and oil strewn across the roadway for at least a mile (by big lumps I mean wheels, battery, car jack, doors etc) there was nothing left of the car other than the 'safety cell' out of which the occupants had miraculously walked relativley unscathed (I stopped to check).
Filtering over the top of a car battery would spoil your day. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

The best bit MUST of been once u got past the accident. Wasn't there miles of road with no cars where you could of raced the other bike?
I great story my dad told me was he was crossing the thames at the dartford tunnel, all the cars were stopped to reduce congestion up ahead. All the bikes including dad and his mates filtered to the front, and waited for a good 10 minuites. Then they let everyone go and a good 50 or so superbikes raced on a free road togther. He said it sounded amazing all the bikes echoing in the tunnel Wish i was there
PS he said he came 3rd lol |

coming home from visiting the folks in exeter i was travelling on the M23 by southampton, traffic had slowed and i started filtering through it, came to the blockage, which was a car stoped in the fast lane, no body was stopping to let them get to the hard shoulder, so i stoped my bike across the middle lane and put my hand up, to my utter disbelieve everyone stopped, the people in the car pushed it to the hard shoulder and i was left with three lanes clear to the eyes could see, thumbs up to the car drivers who stopped and i was away upto a ton in 6-7 seconds!

Bilbo,
Which M5 were you on because the one I use does not run through Whiltshire
andy13_uk,
How do you know you were following a 1ltr bike if you don't even know what sort of bike it was
I like filtering. I feel rather smug and feel really fucked off if I am stuck in my car and smug bikers whiz past.

i was not a 100% but i looked slightly too big for a 600cc and defernetly wasnt a 750cc so presumed it was a litre probably an R1, as the tail and colour look like a R1. That wasnt the point and the only reason i was able to keep up was because we were both filtering, even a 4t 125cc could keep up with a 1000cc sportsbike when the road it full of traffic and you both going <30mph!!
i probably had the advantage as my bike was smaller than his!and we did get to a duel carrage way section and he was off, but we came to more cars and i cought up with him as somthing was blocking the road for a min ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

arse, just wrote a beautiful post...and something went wrong in the sending...oh well.
Basically, it was just a word of warning. I ride all day, so I get the pleasure of filtering on motorways/dual carriageways a fair bit.
Be careful of people opening car doors! They tend to do so with no regard for any other vehicles (no checks etc). I have seen a friend almost taken off his bike because someone did this. It seems people assume that because all the cars have stopped, its safe to get out and stretch their legs, examine cats eyes etc.
Anyone else noticed this phenomenon? ____________________ Travelling around the world...a bit at a time. Where am I now? / Visit my BLOG
